Dartington Service Design Lab is one of the country’s leading research labs for children and young people. The UK-wide research and design charity works in close partnership with those commissioning, designing or delivering youth services, such as the NHS, local authorities and major nonprofits, to improve outcomes for the younger generations. Recognising the need to continually refocus and improve their ways of working, Dartington enlisted our help to better embed project management principles into its day-to-day work.
How we did it
Through our Project Management Review service, ROI consultants worked closely with the Dartington team to really get inside the team dynamic and identify key areas of development. Being an industry leader, the Lab was already doing some outstanding work. However, it is continually looking for ways to improve and innovate. To help them achieve this operational goal, we conducted interviews with key team members, intensively reviewed reports and documentation, and identified key areas of improvement in their project management capabilities. We then delivered a specially-tailored one-day training session.
What they said
“ROI, through its project management review, allowed us to identify areas for improvement, develop easy to use project management templates and further focus on areas of strength. Christos alongside his co-trainers Amy and Mark were also great at making project management relevant and interesting to our work, and in doing so. helping us engage colleagues with improvement work across the organisation” – Scotland Director, Social Research Unit, Dartington Service Design Lab.
Following the Project Management Review, the team at Dartington was left feeling refocused, re-inspired and ready to tackle some really complex and socially-significant projects, with renewed clarity about the task at hand and how to gear themselves toward delivering fantastic, tangible results.
