High Impact Athletes

In this session, participants heard from a number of fantastic third-sector organisations including Spread a Smile and High Impact Athletes. Representatives from both organisations explained their mission, vision, and work, focusing on the organisations’ impact and growth plans.

A live Q&A followed where all attendees had the opportunity to ask direct questions about the presented initiatives. Participants were able to connect with one or both of the charities if they wished to, following the session, as facilitated by ROI(η).

Spread a Smile

This London-based charity brings joy and laughter to seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families during long hospital stays. Every year they spread smiles to thousands of children and teenagers and their families through their hospital visits, outings & events & art initiatives. Their impact is far greater than a smile as they strive to make a real and positive difference to young lives at the most challenging of times.

High Impact Athletes

Founded by New Zealand Olympic bronze medalist tennis player Marcus Daniell, High Impact Athletes connect athletes and the general public with the most effective, evidence-based charities in the world. They are on a mission to create a groundswell of positive impact in the world, driven by the generosity and social influence of successful athletes. They believe that charitable giving should be done with both the heart and the head – the heart to provide the drive to give, the head to make each dollar have the greatest impact possible.

Marcus Danielle

Founder and executive director - High Impact Athletes

Marcus is an Olympic bronze medallist tennis player from New Zealand with 5 ATP titles, quarterfinal appearances at both Wimbledon and the Australian Open (twice), and numerous caps for the NZ Davis Cup Team. He has been involved in the Effective Giving movement since 2015 and has donated 5-10% of his annual income to effective organisations since then.

Lucy Jackson

Chief Executive - Spread a Smile

Lucy joined the charity in February 2017, initially as Director of Strategy and Communications and was appointed CEO in January 2018. She brings a wealth of experience having previously worked as Director of Communications at Teenage Cancer Trust and music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and before that at PR agency Weber Shandwick.
